In late 2012, in the hearts of some brothers from the church in Veria was born, the thought and desire to visit the prison. In fact, our visit would have two purposes. First, talk to prisoners about the love of Jesus Christ, that He died for their own sins, and he wants to give them eternal life.
Second, give them clothes, shoes and personal things because of the increased needs and the inability to satisfy them by our state which deals with a lot of financial difficulties.
Besides, this is something that the Bible teaches us to do: " For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25, 42-45
Since then and for about 1.5 years we pray the Lord will open the way to visit a prison.
Not long ago, miraculously we met some brothers who have a ministry to visit very regularly several prisons, who advised and helped us so as to make contact with the management and the administration of prisons.
Above all, we have seen Lord’s hand to prepare in an amazing way everything for this visit, which took place in the first quarter of 2014. The management of the prison opened all the doors and we came in personal contact with prisoners who are looking to find redemption and salvation in Jesus Christ. They all thanked us for the donation of clothing, footwear and personal things, and we in return gave all the glory and thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ as it was His own will for all that happened.
In fact, at the end of our visit, was expressed by us but also by the prison administration a common desire: that this visit to be repeated very soon so that the name of our Lord to work in the hearts of these people and bring change and repentance in their souls.
Since then, the prison doors are open for us and by the grace of God we have already visited them another 2 times. We visited the prison again, where besides clothing, footwear and other personal things, we donated them about 20 Bibles and New Testaments for the open library of the prison not only in Greek but also in many foreign languages. By this way, a prisoner who wishes can take and read the Word of God and the Lord can work in his heart and change it.
In addition, we gave them 2 large boxes with Christian wall Calendars where each calendar is already entered in every prison cell and so God can work with anyone who is looking for Salvation and Redemption in his life of Jesus Christ.
